Terms of Service
Last updated 24 August 2026
The terms you accept by using OI Trader, what the service is and is not, and where the risk sits.
These terms govern your use of OI Trader at oitrader.in and of the OI Trader Android app, together the "service", operated by Ranjit Randive, an individual ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
Read this part even if you read nothing else.
OI Trader is a self-directed analytics and automation tool. Nothing it produces is investment advice, a recommendation, or a solicitation to buy or sell anything. We are not registered with SEBI as an Investment Adviser or as a Research Analyst, and we do not provide advisory services.
Trading in derivatives carries a high risk of loss, including losses larger than your initial capital. Every order placed through your broker account is your decision and your responsibility, including orders placed automatically by a strategy you configured and armed. Past results, backtests and simulated trades do not predict future results.
1. What the service is
The service analyses market data, computes open-interest and price indicators, runs strategy logic you configure, records simulated ("paper") trades, and — if you choose to enable it — places real orders through your own Zerodha account using credentials you have connected. It is a tool that executes instructions you set up. It does not exercise judgement on your behalf and does not manage money.
2. What the service is not
- It is not investment advice and not a recommendation to enter any trade. A signal is the output of a rule you deployed, not an opinion about what you should do.
- We are not your broker. Your broker is Zerodha, under a separate relationship governed by their terms.
- We are not a portfolio manager and do not hold, receive or handle your funds or securities at any point.
- It is not a research report within the meaning of the SEBI (Research Analysts) Regulations.
3. Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 18 and legally able to trade in the Indian securities markets.
- You must hold your own Zerodha account. Do not connect an account belonging to anyone else.
- Accounts are approved individually. Signing up creates a pending account that an administrator must approve; approval is at our discretion and may be declined or withdrawn without a reason being given.
- Your account is personal to you. Do not share your password or let anyone else use it.
- You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, including trades placed while it is armed.
4. Live trading
Live trading is disarmed by default and only operates if you deliberately enable it and deploy a strategy in live mode. When armed:
- The service will place, modify and exit orders automatically, without asking you first, whenever your configured conditions are met.
- Those orders are placed in your name, in your account, with your money, using the broker credentials you connected.
- You remain responsible for monitoring your positions. Risk limits, stops and daily-loss halts are best-effort software controls, not guarantees; they can fail to fire if data is stale, the broker is unreachable, the server is down, or a market moves faster than the engine reacts.
- You should test in paper mode first and start with the smallest size you are willing to lose.
You can disarm live trading, undeploy a strategy, or disconnect your broker at any time. Doing so stops new orders; it does not close positions already open, which remain yours to manage.
5. Market data and accuracy
Market data reaches us from third parties and may be delayed, incomplete, or wrong. Indicators, charts, payoffs, margin estimates, charges and P&L figures are estimates for your convenience and will differ from your broker's official numbers, which prevail. Paper trades are simulated at modelled prices and do not account for slippage, partial fills, or liquidity as a real order would. We do not warrant that any figure shown is accurate, complete, or fit for any decision.
6. Availability
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. It runs on a single server and may be unavailable for maintenance, upgrades, provider outages or failures, sometimes without notice and sometimes during market hours. We do not promise any level of uptime, latency or continuity, and we may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it at any time.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service unlawfully, or in breach of exchange, SEBI or broker rules, including any form of market manipulation.
- Connect credentials that are not yours, or let another person trade through your account.
- Attempt to access another user's data, or any part of the system you have not been granted.
- Probe, scan, overload or interfere with the service or its infrastructure, or work around rate limits.
- Scrape, resell or redistribute data or output from the service.
- Present output from the service to others as investment advice, or as if it came from a registered adviser.
8. Third-party services
The service depends on Zerodha's Kite Connect APIs, Google's push infrastructure, an email provider and a hosting provider. Your use of Zerodha's platform is governed by Zerodha's own terms, and you must comply with them. We are not responsible for their acts, outages, errors, charges or decisions, including a broker rejecting, delaying or misexecuting an order.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any trading loss, lost profit, missed opportunity, or loss of data arising from your use of the service — whether caused by a signal, an automated order, a failed stop, incorrect data, downtime, or a bug.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages of any kind.
- Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us for the service, which for a free service is nil.
Nothing here excludes liability for fraud or for anything else that cannot be excluded under Indian law.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and costs arising from your use of the service, your trading decisions, your breach of these terms, or your breach of any law or broker or exchange rule.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or delete an account at any time, with or without notice, including for breach of these terms or where we believe continued use presents a risk. You may stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account. On termination your access ends immediately; open positions in your broker account remain yours and are unaffected.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and material changes will be notified by email or in the app. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the revised terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Pune, Maharashtra have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
